Acrylic on handcut paper, PVA glued to cardboard.

Every Sunday night, 99p Ebay auctions of my paintings end. I call them 99p because the starting bid is 99p, and there’s no reserve. So, potentially, if only one person bids, they could get that painting for 99p. As a last ditch attempt to get some more bids, on Friday nights I post a YouTube video of auctions ending that Sunday. Above is the YouTube playlist.
The auctions start every Thursday night, and last 10 days. I list either 3 or 4 paintings each time. So, every Sunday night (UK time), auctions end. I paint these Ebay auction paintings under the alias Heckel’s Horse Jr. They’re acrylic on stretched canvas, 20 x 16 inches. Happy bidding!

Above are the before and after-I-got-involved photos of the only collaboration painting between Black Francis (aka Charles Thompson and Frank Black) and I. It didn’t start out as a collaboration. One day, Charles and I travelled to Chatham from London, probably about 10 years ago, when his band, Pixies, were on tour here. It was a Monday, on one of my weekly trips to Billy Childish’s Chatham Dockyard painting studio. Charles painted on one of my sheets of cardboard, we left, then a year or so later, I mentioned to Charles that his painting was still in Billy’s studio. I think I asked if he wanted me to post it to him, but he said not to worry, that it was unfinished, and that I could paint over it if I wanted. I couldn’t, but instead said I would try and finish it. The bottom right of the above right photo is my effort at that.
I exhibited this Francis Johnstone collaboration in Stuckism: The Exhibition at Black Ivory in Muswell Hill, London. Here’s two photos of the our painting stations at Chatham. Mine on the left, Charles’ on the right. My painting is of carriages and a cat:

Haven’t sent an Edgeworth Pack in a while, but now things are up and running a bit with my Etsy shop and Ebay auctions, I decided to start them up again. Works on paper will soon be on my Etsy once I’ve caught up and trained my new postage and packing assistant. Edgeworth Packs are free collections of, at least usually A4 size original works on paper that I find lying around my studio of buried deep in my storage room. Here is pack A. Packs D and Z to follow. See earlier blogs for previous Edgeworth Packs. Here is the complete Edgeworth Pack YouTube video playlist:

Camden Home | Camden Art | Camden Booklet
I’m usually at Camden Market at least once a week, giving away my artwork to passers-by willing to do a one minute interview for my YouTube channel.

The Camden Market Free Art Man demo – 28th June 2025 I’m known as The Camden Market Free Art Man but my real name is Edgeworth Johnstone. I also work under the aliases Heckel’s Horse Jr. and Jompiy and play in several bands. As well as giving my artwork away on the streets of Camden Market, I sell them on Etsy and Ebay. For my music, I have a fan club on Bandcamp. Full bio here.
My Camden Market art giveaways are a political protest against expensive art. From being exhibited in Tate Modern, and my work auctioned at Christie’s (page 36), I’m now giving my original paintings away to passers by on the the streets of Camden Market. Free art frees art.

Alan Myatt the Camden Market Town Crier – 2nd August 2025
Free Art Frees Art Free Nirvana art at Camden Market – 6th September 2025 – my first themed day at Camden Market. Loads of art themed on an album I made of Nirvana covers.

A series of oil paint block prints I made a few years ago at Black Ivory. Thick paint on office paper so will rot away soon. Just as well none sold in my Etsy shop. Speaking of which, I’ve just started my new Ebay shop. The idea is, Ebay is for auctions, Etsy is for buy it now. Ebay auctions start at 99p with no reserve price.
